Chasing the Last Autumn Colour on Vancouver Island

In this video, Brian Barnham and I head out on Vancouver Island in search of the last traces of autumn colour. Unfortunately, things didn’t quite go to plan. Between poor light, constant drizzle, and uninspiring skies, we were skunked entirely at several locations. But that’s part of landscape photography—you can’t always control the conditions. Instead of giving up, we pushed on, trying to make something of what the day had given us. Through patience and persistence, we found a few beautiful moments of backlit colour hiding in the forest and along quiet creeks. I also share some thoughts on the Bluetti Elite 30 V2 power station, which kept my camera batteries, laptop, and accessories running through the entire trip. It’s compact, reliable, and perfect for long days in the field where access to power is limited
