10 Years Rewilding My Garden – Now It’s a Bird Photography Paradise

10 years ago my garden looked like a small park. Little by little I stopped chasing the “perfect” lawn and let it grow wilder, with more flowers, cover and water for the birds and insects. In this video I sit hidden in my garden photo blind, listening, waiting and photographing the birds that have moved into this little wild corner outside my door.

Ireland Landscape Photography - SUNSET, SUNRISE & STORMY SKIES!

In this video, I set out to capture beautiful landscape and fine art images of the Republic of Ireland during stormy conditions. A few weeks ago, I embarked on my first-ever road trip to Ireland, focusing mainly on the Waterford area in the south. And just to be accurate, the Republic of Ireland, as I was politely corrected several times by the locals! 😁😁 THE VIDEO I filmed a huge amount of footage, visited lots of incredible locations, and created so many images that it became difficult to weave everything into a single coherent story. In the end, I realised it was easier to combine everything into one film. That’s why you’ll see multiple shots of the same locations taken at different times of day, sorry if it feels a bit all over the place! I also want to say a massive thank you to everyone at the Waterford Camera Club for making my first photography trip to your beautiful country so memorable for both me and my wife. FINE ART - The Old Boat Wreck - My Toughest Challenge Yet!

In this video, I take on the challenge of creating a Fine Art landscape masterpiece from an otherwise uninspiring subject, and in terrible conditions. This turned out to be my toughest challenge yet! A few days ago, I set out to photograph a little-known UK boat wreck, hoping to capture it in my signature Fine Art style. But from the start, everything was against me. The weather offered no help: the light was poor, the high tide was unusually low, and the sky was bright and completely cloudless. And that was just day one. Determined to improve on my first attempt, I returned the following day. Unfortunately, the conditions were no better, just different. The blue, cloudless sky had been replaced by a flat grey blanket. It was windy, bitterly cold, and, just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, the rain arrived. I do love a challenge, but this one really pushed me! I hope you enjoy the video. Gary

I Risked Rain & Divorce for This Photo - You Won’t Believe the Result

It starts with small lies about distances and hiking times. Then it devolves into raging untruths like "just 10 more minutes...", you know you've done it too. I drag Amanda up a mountain on the bleak off-chance that we might get some good light. Landscape photography does require some level of optimism but this is bordering on delusion. Luckily, she falls for my lies but who am I really trying to fool? After a brutal slog to the summit I frantically run around trying to find compositions before the light hits only to be frustrated at every turn. I almost give up all hope but Amanda's 'light dance' seems to do the trick and for a very brief moment we are rewarded with light rays in the valley of autumnal majesty. What's in today's crumb catchers and will I actually delete the comment about my wife's urgent need for Preparation H? There's really only one way to find out.
